Marguerite Spagnuolo

Marguerite Spagnuolo first caught the poker public's attention, earlier this year when she won her first major event on March 14 at Caesar's in Atlantic City. She picked up first place, a WSOP Circuit Event pendant and a nice prize of $11k. After that, a WSOP Academy executive, approached her and sent her to a Boot camp, hosted by Annie Duke. This was a very informative course for her, which led her to cash during the WPT at Borgata this fall in a $350 buy-in for $6.1k with a 5th place finish.

The locals in Atlantic City though, knew of Marguerite well before her WSOP circuit event. Marguerite is a very likable young woman, down-to-earth and very sweet. I have had the privilege of playing with her at the same table in a Borgata Tournament (she outlasted me of course), and she handled herself like a true professional and very lady-like. However, as I learned the hard way, do not let that innocent-looking pretty face fool you, she plays a tough poker and can mix it up with anyone. She knows the game, understands the concept of the game, and reads her opponent quite well. Marguerite has been grinding cash games for quite a while and is a much-respected player at the tables, and even a more admired woman away from the felt. Marguerite deals poker for fundraisers, charity events and parties, and she got sponsored for the $10k buy-in WSOP MAIN EVENT in Las Vegas. Although she did not cash, she made it to day 2 (longer than Phil Ivey and Hellmuth) and made some incredible friends and memories. It was an amazing experience for her.

The woman has a heart-of-gold and the softest soul you will ever encounter. She is friendly, warm, kind and pleasant to every single person, and everyone loves her. As you might see in some of the photos, she is wearing the Breast Cancer Awareness patch for her friend, Darlene who is recovering from a double mastectomy. "She was there for my 15 hour session in the World Series Circuit Event which I won. She was my only railbird and cheered me on to victory! Darlene is a very good friend of mine as well as a poker player." Says, Marguerite. Marguerite has a total of over $100k in total winnings along with one WSOP Circuit title, in her very young career. She also has many 1st place finishes at the Borgata Weekly tournaments and some great money-finishes in "Non-Event" tournaments.
