Joseph Sanghyon Cheong has been a feared and respected online poker superstar for years under the screen name "subiime." A native of Seoul, South Korea Joseph's family emigrated to the United States when he was six years old. Joseph began playing poker while enrolled at UC -- San Diego where he earned two Bachelor's Degrees (one in psychology and one double majoring in mathematics and economics). While Joseph certainly applied himself to his academics, he accumulated a very large bankroll while playing online in school -- he decided, upon graduating in 2009, to give professional poker a try. This turned out to be a wise decision indeed.
Joseph made an immediate splash on the live scene with seven major cashes leading up to the 2010 WSOP. Joseph's skill and confidence showed right away as he got very close to final tabling two of his first WSOP events and followed that up by making the prestigious November 9 in the Main Event. During the hiatus, Joseph didn't miss a beat -- he took 2nd in the 10k EPT London High Roller and won the 5k event at WPT Festa al Lago. When the WSOP Main Event final table reconvened, Joseph had the fear and respect of all the players and was many handicapper's pick to win it all. Joseph played amazingly and finished in 3rd place, his tournament ending on one of the most amazing hands played in WSOP history. He earned over $4,000,000 for his efforts and is now widely accepted as one of the most amazing young poker minds in the world. We look for many great things from Joseph for decades to come both live and online as a Full Tilt Red Pro.
